According to the 1880 census of Lime Creek, Iowa, and Washington Twps of Washington, Iowa, seveal members of the families are residing there. Son William, who would be about 45 yrs, is now residing in Harrison Co., MO. William's male siblings are also gone, if indeed they ever resided in Washington Co.

Also Known As: Heinrich Bainter
Homestead 115 acres, Milford Tp, Somerset Co. PA. Came to US on "Duke of
York." (Peter was 7th child?) We assume that Henry Bender of PA and Henry
Painter of Fayette Co. OH are the same person. The Ohio history mentions
that Henry & Elizabeth wer from PA, settled in OH about 1822. Also the
twins Jonathan and Jacob are listed. The Somerset Co., Milford Twp. Taxable
list for 1783-1784 reports Henry Bender as having 1 horse, 1 cow, 2 sheep,
1 house, and 2 people (white) in the family.

There is a Johan Georg Bender on the 9/14/1751 passenger list of the ship
"Duke of Bedford" from Rotterdam and Portsmouth. Other Benders on board

Painter and Elizabeth Aness (Enos) on 1/26/1802. Another source lists their
marriage licence issued 12/4/1802 by Jacob Kanable and a marriage date of
1/22/1802. It was witnessed by Henry Bender, Abigail Prinary, & Caty
Printer.
