Rolston 56--Annotated Research of Jim Libertini: pg 1: DAVID?2 ROLSTON (WILLIAM1) was born Abt. 1725 in unknown, and died Abt. 1803 in Rockingham County, Virginia. He married ANN (WIDOW) COPELAND Abt. 1755. Also identifies children: Children of DAVID? ROLSTON and ANN COPELAND are:
        i. JAMES?3 ROLSTON.
        ii. ANNE? ROLSTON.

Rolston 74 -- Abstracts from Rockingham County Court Records, pg 40: At a court held for Rockingham County on Monday the 23rd day of August 1779: Deed of bargain and sale to Robert Mathews from David Ralstone and Ann his wife, she being first privily examined, was acknowledged and ordered to be recorded.

Rolston 75 -- Some information gleaned from Dr. Wayland's Virginia Valley Records as to the Rolstons, Ralstons, Rolstones, Roalstons, and Rolestones, (all these spellings probably referring to the same lines): (3) That in 1789 David Ralston was listed with 451 acres. (District 2 -- (James in District 1, the others in District 2; these are referred to as militia districts, though finding any one in these lists does not guarantee any active military service, as I understand it; I think these Companies were made up partly for taxation purposes, and probably to make it easy to call the men (and boys over 16) into active military service, when necessary). (6) That, in 1788, David Ralston had one son James and 8 horses, and an apprentice named samuel Mahoney.
