According to a story written by Estel Hodges Hubbard [Reflections - The Life of Ed and Dora (Smith) Herndon.] "When Pauline Herndon Weigart was a few months old, her mother, Muriel, was taking a crate of eggs to town to sell. Muriel picked up an egg, wrote Pauline Herndon, Parnell, Missouri, on the egg, turned it over, not to be seen. Almost one year later, Pauline received a nice letter from a nice young man in Mississippi. He had bought the eggs."
